This year's Kentucky Farm Bureau Young Farmer Leadership Conference is scheduled for February 1-2, 2008. The conference will be held in Frankfort at the Capital Plaza Hotel and will feature many items of interest for young farmers and their families. The weekend will be filled with educational workshops, motivational speakers and tours of several local places of interest. Being held in Frankfort, the conference will have a legislative emphasis and will feature meetings with several statewide elected officials and other friends of agriculture, as well as guided tours of a number of historic properties.

Conference registration will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the hotel on Friday, February 1st, with the opening session taking place at 11:00 a.m. in the Rotunda of the State Capitol Building. This assembly will feature a legislative update from KFB and addresses by several statewide elected officials. Following this opening event, you are encouraged to have lunch with your legislators in the Capitol Annex Cafeteria at our expense. Please contact your State Representative and Senator in early January to ensure that he/she will be available to meet with you. Everyone who personally meets with both of their elected representatives to discuss KFB's Priority Issues will be eligible for one of three, $100 Visa gift cards. Following Friday's lunch, guided tours of the Capitol building and the Governor's Mansion (tentative) will be available for our group. During the afternoon free time, we have made the Kentucky History Museum available for you at no cost. KFB President Marshall Coyle will be with us on Friday evening for "Dinner and a Movie" at the hotel.

Saturday morning, February 2nd, will begin with breakfast and an address by a motivational speaker from Utah named Chad Hymas. Chad, who was injured in a farming accident several years ago and is now a quadriplegic, presently travels the country sharing his inspirational story. Following breakfast, a children's workshop will be offered while Chad and Shondell Hymas lead a session for adults on making marriage relationships stronger. After additional workshops and a group luncheon, several hours of free time will be offered in the afternoon. Additionally, optional tours to Rebecca Ruth's Candies, Buffalo Trace Distillery and a local farm have been scheduled for those who are interested. The conference will close with dinner and "An Evening With Carl Hurley" at the Frankfort Convention Center. Carl Hurley is a famous, family-friendly comedian who travels the country telling stories about his childhood in rural Kentucky.
