| 2008 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified
Roadside Farm Markets |
 |
In July 1996 the Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market program was organized to help farmers market their fruits and vegetables directly from roadside markets to consumers across Kentucky. Since then, it has expanded to include farm enterprises like greenhouses, landscape nurseries, Christmas tree farms, vineyards/wineries, and meat/cheese farm markets.
Kentucky Farm Bureau certifies and provides promotion for roadside farm markets in Kentucky that meet established standards for the program. The program allows the market operators to obtain statewide advertising as a way to expand their market areas and increase sales. It also provides customers assurance that the certified markets offer the highest quality service and products, many of which are grown on the same farms where the markets are located.
Markets certified through this program are identified by the cornucopia logo and are listed in an annual directory of certified markets that is distributed through state parks and tourism outlets as a convenience to consumers.
