LOUISVILLE, KY, June 11, 2008: Fifty nine Kentucky students have been chosen to receive scholarship grants totaling $88,500 from programs administered through the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation.
Since its inception in 1953, the Farm Bureau Education Foundation has distributed more than a million dollars to high school seniors in Farm Bureau member families.
Recipients and the scholarship sponsors are as follows:
Leadership in Agriculture Award Scholarship, $3,000 each
- Brian Reynolds of LaRue County High School. He plans to attend Western Kentucky University, majoring in animal science. He is the son of Donald and Patti Reynolds of Magnolia.
- Patricia Smith of Oldham County High School. The daughter of John Brent and Patricia Smith of Smithfield, she plans to attend Murray State University to major in Animal Science or Agriculture Education.
Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, $2,000 each
- Alesha Compton of Adair County High School. She plans to attend Lindsey Wilson College, majoring in Education. She is the daughter of Bridgett and Jackie Chapman of Columbia.
- Morgan Lee of Central Hardin High School. The daughter of Lisa Lee Brown of Elizabethtown, she plans to attend Transylvania University to major in Pre-Medicine and Biology.
Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agents Association, $2,000
- Ashton Bailey of Shelby County High School. He plans to attend Georgetown College, majoring in Education. He is the son of Lewis and Norma Bailey of Bagdad.
Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation, $1,000 each
- Kaile Vierstra of Hart County High School. The daughter of Ken and Lisa Vierstra of Horse Cave, she plans to attend Western Kentucky University to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
- Kari Cornett of Bell County High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Pre-Medicine. She is the daughter of Jeanette Cornett of Pineville.
- Carolyn Butts of Caldwell County High School. The daughter of David and Dixie Butts of Princeton, she plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Agriculture Biotechnology.
- Rachel Talent of Calloway County High School. The daughter of Ron and Connie Hopkins Talent, she plans to attend Murray State University, majoring in Animal Health Technology and Chemistry (Pre-Pharmacy).
- Sarah Myers of Sonlight Ridge Homeschool Academy. The daughter of Steve and Cheryl Myers of California, she plans to attend Cedarville University to major in Nursing.
- Amy Roberts of George Rogers Clark High School. She plans to attend University of the Cumberlands, majoring in Mathematics. She is the daughter of Russell and Christine Roberts of Winchester.
- Haylie Canham of Lexington Catholic High School. The daughter of Steve and Kathryn Canham of Georgetown, she plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Forestry.
- Kendall Corbin of Fleming County High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Agriculture Biotechnology. She is the daughter of Kent and Barb Corbin of Flemingsburg.
- Nathan Kitchens of Grant County High School. The son of Joe and Jeanne Kitchens of Dry Ridge, he plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Political Science.
- Lauren Ison of Russell Independent High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Biotechnology and Engineering. She is the daughter of Tim and Karen Ison of Greenup.
- Whitney Churchman of Central Hardin High School. The daughter of Richard and Gail Churchman of Cecilia, she plans to attend Western Kentucky University to major in Agriculture Economics.
- Brittany Green of Hart County High School. She plans to attend the University of Louisville, majoring in Psychology. She is the daughter of Don and Cindy Green of Hardyville.
- Stephen Porter of Madisonville-North Hopkins High School. The son of Tom and Sara Porter of Madisonville, he plans to attend Transylvania University.
- Brooke Sherrard of Butler Traditional High School. She plans to attend the University of Louisville, majoring in Biology. She is the daughter of Louie Allen and Holly Sherrard of Shepherdsville.
- Victoria R. Wilson of Magoffin County High School. The daughter of Grayling and Vicki Wilson, she plans to attend the University of Louisville to major in Pharmacy and Secondary Chemistry Education.
- Victoria C. Wilson of McLean County High School. She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University, majoring in Forensic Biology. She is the daughter of Mike Wilson and Stacy Logsdon of Livermore.
- Daniel Brooks of Mercer County High School. The son of Paul and Theresa Brooks of Harrodsburg, he plans to attend Purdue University to major in Aeronautical Engineering.
- Lindsey Thomas of Monroe County High School. She plans to attend Lindsey Wilson College, majoring in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Eddy and Lisa Thomas of Tompkinsville.
- Joshua Dabbs of Oldham County High School. The son of Steve and Teresa Dabbs of LaGrange, he plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Pre-Medicine Biology.
- Adrienne Cromer of Rockcastle County High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Chemistry. She is the daughter of Richard and Patricia Cromer of Brodhead.
- Danielle Skaggs of Elliott County High School. The daughter of Glen W. and Loretta Skaggs of Olive Hill, she plans to attend Morehead State University to major in Pre-Medicine.
- Rachel Hollingsworth of Sayre School. She plans to attend Butler University, majoring in Vocal Music Performance and Classical Singing. She is the daughter of Jay and Judy Hollingsworth of Georgetown.
- Charles Phipps of Wolfe County High School. The son of Charles and Brenda Phipps of Hazel Green, he plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Agricultural Engineering.

- Kristi Skelton of Shelby County High School. She plans to attend Morehead State University, majoring in Veterinary Technology. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lynn Skelton of Bagdad.
Allen County Farm Bureau, $1,000
- Travis Ogles of Allen County-Scottsville High School. The son of Teddy and Kathy Ogles of Scottsville, he plans to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College.
Boone County Farm Bureau, $1,000
- Jacob Rouse of Larry A. Ryle High School. He plans to attend Indiana University-Bloomington to pursue a double major in Entrepreneurship and International Business. He is the son of Greg and Tina Rouse of Union.
Bullitt County Farm Bureau, $2,000 each
- Kaitlyn Hobbs of Bullitt East High School. The daughter of Billy and Arlana Hobbs of Mt. Washington, she plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Agricultural Biotechnology.
- Ciera Lowery of Bullitt East High School. The daughter of Stan and Leigh Ann Lowery of Mt. Washington, she plans to attend Georgetown College.
- Katherine Mitchell of Bullitt Central High School. She plans to attend the University of Louisville, majoring in Pharmacy. She is the daughter of Dennis and Diana Mitchell of West Point.
- Megan Slater of Bullitt East High School. The daughter of Steve and Connie Slater of Mt. Washington, she plans to attend the University of Louisville to become a Nurse Practitioner.
Christian County Farm Bureau, $1,000 each
- Colton Ellis of Christian County High School. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Biology and Engineering. He is the son of Kenneth and Sheryl Ellis of Hopkinsville.
- Ross Roeder of Christian County High School. The son of Ronnie and Rita Roeder of Hopkinsville, he plans to attend Hopkinsville Community College to pursue a major in Agriculture Business.

- Jennifer Harris of Crittenden County High School. She plans to attend Murray State University, majoring in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Equine Science. She is the daughter of David and Tina Harris of Salem.
- Elise Hill of Crittenden County High School. The daughter of Stephen and Martha Hill of Marion, she plans to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College to major in Communication Disorders.

- Amanda Lehotan of Paducah Tilghman High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Exercise Science. She is the daughter of Dave and Cindy Lehotan of Paducah.
McLean County Farm Bureau/Jack Taylor Memorial Scholarship, $1,000
- Lauren Sweeney of McLean County High School. The daughter of Michael and Penny Crumbaker of Island, she plans to attend the University of Kentucky to major in Pre-Medicine.
Mercer County Farm Bureau, $1,000
- Loran Crowell of Mercer County High School. She plans to attend Centre College, majoring in Chemistry. She is the daughter of Alan and Carrie Crowell of Salvisa.
Monroe County Farm Bureau, $1,000 each
- Christy Eubank of Monroe County High School. The daughter of Johnny and Sherree Eubank of Gamaliel, she plans to attend Western Kentucky University to major in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Ann Marie Gordon of Monroe County High School. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study Law. She is the daughter of Tim and Karen Gordon of Tompkinsville.

- Abigail Crawley of Greenwood High School. The daughter of Bruce and Lee Ann Crawley of Bowling Green, she plans to attend Western Kentucky University to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

- Jonathan Price of Bowling Green High School. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky, majoring in Horticulture. He is the son of Brent and Jill Price of Bowling Green.
Webster County Farm Bureau, $500 each
- Sakara Chandler of Webster County High School. The daughter of P.E. and Cathy Chandler of Dixon, she plans to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College to major in Secondary Education English.
- Mattea Cummings of Webster County High School. The daughter of Glenn and Sadona Cummings of Dixon, she plans to attend Western Kentucky University.
