Dear
Friends of Fayette County Farm Bureau, and Agriculture:
Welcome to our website!
2004 was an outstanding year for Fayette County Farm Bureau. Fayette
Counties agriculture is as rich as it's traditions. Fayette County is
ranked number one in Agricultural sales in Kentucky, $263 million and
we just keep growing. We have $256.4 million in horse sales, which puts
us number one in Kentucky, as the horse capital of the world. We produce
4,938,000 lbs of tobacco and 15,037 head of cattle, making these 3 commodities
our top Agricultural enterprises for the county.
This year Fayette County will see a dramatic change in the history of
our agriculture as the Tobacco program comes to an end, our growers will
plan for alternative crops. It is also important to remember that agriculture
reaches far beyond the farm gates in Fayette County. It is an industry
that includes farmers as well as the many urban and suburban residents.
To our many farmers and Farm Bureau members thanks for your commitment
and willingness to give of your time, hard work and planning.
Jane Elam
President
Fayette County Farm Bureau
